DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Officers who were on patrol for a robbery suspect end up arresting a man on drug charges.
Police were called to the 800 block of Watervliet Avenue Saturday before 1 a.m. on reports of a suspicious person. Officers said the man matched the description of a possible robbery suspect.
Police explained the reason they stopped him, and the man said he understood and he was just walking from the store. Officers identified the man as 36-year-old Charles Steinmetz and found that he had a warrant out for heroin possession.
Officials arrested Steinmetz on the warrant. While police were taking him into custody, they said they found he was carrying baggies of methamphetamine and capsules of heroin.
He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on drug possession charges. He’s expected in court Monday.
