Man pulled from Great Miami River dies

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The man pulled from the Great Miami River Saturday has died.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office confirmed the man has been identified as Richard Shirah, Jr., 44, of Dayton.

Shirah fell in the water Saturday afternoon while he was there with two other people. After he went in the water, crews were called to West Monument Avenue and River Corridor to perform a water rescue.

Five Rivers MetroPark officers as well as Dayton Fire responded to the scene.

Crews pulled the Shirah from the water and medics performed CPR on him at the scene. He was then rushed to the hospital. Sunday, the coroner’s office confirmed he had died.
