DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton police arrested a man in connection with two robberies at a local convenience store.
2 NEWS was the only camera there when police escorted 31-year-old Benny Hamilton to jail.
According to a police report on the incident, a man walked into Sammy’s Food Mart on South Smithville Road with a knife and wearing a bandana demanding money.
The clerk asked the suspect if he was kidding several times, and the suspect said he was not. The employee recognized the suspect’s voice and glasses and knew the man was a regular in the store.
The police report says the employee told the suspect she knew him and was going to call the police. The suspect then said, “I’m just playing,” pulled his bandana off and smiled. He then left the store.
Police believe this is the same suspect who robbed the same place on February 21.
