Victim in Jefferson Twp. club shooting identified

JEFFERSON TWP. (WDTN) — One person has died after an early morning shooting outside of a club.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office confirms Michael D. Mays-Belton, 29, of Dayton, is the victim in the shooting. An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause and manner of death.

The shooting happened in the 5100 block of Germantown Pike at around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Deputies were called to the K-9 Club on a report of a person shot.

When they arrived they found Mays-Belton in the parking lot. He died at the scene.

Investigators say they’re looking for a black male in his early 30s. Investigators tell 2NEWS the shooter is around 6 feet tall and around 250 pounds with dreadlocks and a goatee.

That person of interest was last seen driving from the scene in a dark vehicle with tinted windows.

Residents who live nearby say the K-9 Club has developed a reputation for attracting violence.

Deputies are asking if you have any information that could lead to an arrest–to give them a call.
