XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) – A Fairborn man was sentenced Thursday to nine years in prison for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
Keith Fyffe, 51, was pled guilty to three charges of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor as part of a plea deal in January, according to our partners at the Xenia Gazette.
Fyffe was originally indicted in Greene County Common Pleas Court on eight of those charges in Sept. 2015. Five of those charges were dismissed as part of plea negotiations.
He reportedly apologized to the victim and his own family Thursday and asked the court to have mercy in sentencing, so he could take care of a family member, according to the Xenia Gazette.
“He has taken full responsibility in this matter,” his attorney, Chris Fogt said. “He’s sincerely sorry for his actions and decision-makings thereof and is willing to accept any and all counseling and/or other help that he could benefit from so as to overcome this issue as well as show and prove to the victim that he is indeed not only sorry but is not going to continue such behavior.”
Prosecutors recommended a five-year sentence for the Fairborn man before the judge imposed the nine-year prison sentence, according to the Xenia Gazette. Fyffe is now classified as a Tier II sex offender and must register as such every 180 days for the next 25 years.
Court records also show that Fyffe pleaded guilty to a gross sexual imposition charge in Greene County Common Pleas Court in 1985 and was subsequently sentenced to serve one year in prison.
