Michigan company makes peephole guard in wake of Erin Andrews case

(WKRN)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Erin Andrews Peeping Tom case is the motivation for a new product from a company in Michigan.

It’s a guard to protect you from being spied on in your hotel room.

Andrews was awarded a total of $55 million on Monday for her civil lawsuit against the Marriott hotel at Vanderbilt and Michael Barrett.

Barrett modified the peephole to Andrews’ hotel room door and recorded her changing clothes.

The owner of Privacy Logic created a device to protect people from that happening to them.

He spoke to News 2 via Skype on Tuesday, and showed us their latest product.

“Once you put this device in, it pressure fits into inside the dorm room door or the hotel dorm. Any form of tampering from the exterior like Mr. Barrett did, he could not film through there. He could unscrew it take it out; it wouldn’t matter,” explained Gary Van Solkema.

The creator told News 2 since the trial ended he has seen a 70 percent increase in sales.
