Man arrested after Dollar General robbed

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man was arrested following a robbery at a Dayton Dollar General.

It happened at the Dollar General store located at 445 Salem Avenue before 10 a.m. Sunday.

According to Dayton Police, a man walked into the store with a pellet gun and made off with the cash register drawer.

Police caught up with the suspect a few blocks away at 5 Oaks Avenue and Richmond Avenue.

“They observed him still carrying the cash box and as he was carrying the cash box, change was dropping out. He saw the police, he dropped the cash box and continued to flee,” said Sgt. Creigee Coleman.

According to jail records, Patrick Brooks was arrested on charges of aggravated robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest. He is expected in court Monday.

Officers recovered the cash register drawer nearby.

No one was hurt.
