Clean-up process begins for storm damage victims

SPRINGBORO, Ohio (WDTN) – Friday’s weather is much different from last night, when strong winds blew through the region. Gusts caused power outages and knocked down trees, causing damage to some homes.

For the Lambert family, it’s been a long 24 hours. Now, they’re working to clean up what’s left of their roof.

We first reported on the damage Thursday, that’s when Kari Lambert says her mother and son were at home watching the news with they first got word of the storms. They said they got the warning from us to move away from any windows.

Lambert says immeadiately her mother woke up her son who was asleep on the couch and got them in the hallway to safety.

Just seconds later a massive tree fell on the house ripping through the roof and landing on the couch right where her son was sleeping just seconds before. Lambert says she’s glad no one was hurt.

“It’s very fortunate. very fortunate,” Lambert said. “Yeah, god was watching over us. She was watching the news and just happened to listen and got out of the way.”

And Lambert estimates the damage to top out at just over 11-thousand dollars. A small price to pay she says she’s just glad no one was hurt.
