Strong winds cause severe damage across the Miami Valley

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) — High winds have caused numerous reports of damage across the Miami Valley.

A truck parked at a home in 3900 block of Waterbury Drive in Kettering was damaged after a tree fell onto it.

“I was sitting in the front room and thought I heard trash cans coming down the street,” said Tony Kinniard who owns the damaged truck.

Kinniard said the tree did about $1,500 worth of damage.

An iconic sign at a Yellow Springs dairy was also damaged because of the high winds.

The cow on top of the Young’s Jersey Dairy sign was blown off as gusts reached up to 60 miles per hour on Saturday afternoon.

The dairy announced on it’s Facebook page work would be done to replace the cow on Monday.

Near the Dayton Mall, the roof over gas pumps at the Shell station was tipped over during the winds.

Crews were called out to repair it.
