DARKE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) — Saturday’s blustery weather caused widespread damage and power outages throughout Darke County.

According to Bluebag Media, numerous trees were uprooted and nearly 500 homes in the county were without power after power poles and lines were knocked to the ground.

Winds gusted to more than 50 mph and temperatures plummeted as snow flurries fell in the area.

The high wind warning expired at 11 p.m. Saturday, but a freeze warning went into effect with temperatures dropping into the 20’s.

Crews will be spending the day making repairs and cleaning up from the wind storm. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
