UD issues alert after student approached by knife-wielding suspect

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The University of Dayton Department of Public Safety has issued an alert after a student was approached by a man with a knife.

It happened in the parking lot in the back of Brown Street businesses between Irving Avenue and Lowes Street around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to an email sent to students and staff, a student said he was walking from one of the businesses when he was approached by a man carrying a knife. The man demanded the student empty his pockets. The student ran and called police.

University of Dayton Police and Dayton Police responded but didn’t find the suspect. The student was not hurt.

The student described the suspect as a man in his early 20s, 6’0″, thin build, possibly wearing a hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
