DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Police are looking for the person responsible for breaking inside a Dayton car shop.

Police were called to Jones’ Service at 2823 West Riverview Avenue after 3 a.m. Friday on a burglary alarm.

Officers said when they arrived, they found the front door was forced open, the deadbolt was bent, and the door frame was separated from the building.

Police didn’t find anyone inside, but they noticed wires were scattered around the floor in the front office. Officials said it appeared a television has been taken and a DVD player and remote were thrown on the floor.

About 20 minutes later, police stopped someone nearby carrying a duffle bag with security equipment and iPad cases that were still wrapped. Officers said right now, it’s unclear if the equipment came from the auto shop.

Police are still investigating. If you have any information that could help, call Crime Stoppers at 937-222-7867. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
