Dayton teen’s wish to go overseas gets granted

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) — A Dayton teen’s dream to travel overseas got a big boost.

Payton Herres, 15, recently had her wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation to travel to the United Kingdom.

During a ceremony before Cedarville University’s baseball game on Saturday, Herres learned new details about her trip.

Herres and her family will fly to London where they will be able to experience activities like the Harry Potter Museum, Buckingham Palace, and a tour of Big Ben.

“It feels like I’m just in a dream and I feel like I’m going to wake up,” said Herres. “But it’s not actually a dream. It’s actually real.”

Herres also got to throw out the first pitch before the game.

She was granted her wish after a heart transplant back in 2012. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
