Homicide detectives investigating after body found in funeral home lot

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in a car in a funeral home parking lot.

Police were called to the Bowman and Young Funeral Home at 2060 Germantown Street Friday around 9 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a woman’s body in a car. Medics told police the woman had been dead for a while.

Police talked with two men who were standing by the car. According to officials, the men said they found the woman unresponsive in the car at Weaver Street and Clement Avenue and then drove her to the funeral home for some help. Detectives interviewed the two men as persons of interest in the case. Police said their stories didn’t make sense and seemed suspicious.

Homicide detectives and the coroner were called to the scene to investigate. The body was taken to the crime lab for further investigation. The car was towed for evidence.

The woman has not yet been identified.

Police said they’re still investigating if it was a homicide or overdose, but there were no signs of trauma.
