DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton Police said the suspect in a restaurant break-in knew the combination to the safe.

Officials were called to Church’s Chicken located at 529 North Broadway Street Saturday after 8 a.m. after workers told officers they arrived and found the glass front door broken.

Police didn’t find anyone inside of the building, but they noticed a safe was open in the back office and the money drawers had all been emptied.

Officials said they did not observe any pry marks on the safe and believed whoever stole the money knew the combination to the safe.

They believe the suspect got away with more than $1,000.

Police reviewed surveillance video which they said showed a man in a gray hooded jacket and white gloves break the glass, walk immediately into the office, and access the safe using the combination. They said the video then showed him taking the cash from the safe and leaving through the back door.

Officials are still investigating. If you have any information that could help, call Crime Stoppers at 937-222-7867.
