Strong thunderstorms possible this evening

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) Showers and thunderstorms will be possible this evening as a cold front approaches the Miami Valley.  All of the Dayton area is under a “marginal” risk of severe weather from the Storm Prediction Center.

“This means some of the storms may reach severe criteria,” explains Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Tara Hastings, “The main threat from these thunderstorms will be locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds and hail.”

The ground is already saturated from recent rains so minor flooding may be possible with locally heavy downpours.

“The risk of severe weather isn’t completely over but it is a very low risk. We’ll monitor the potential for some strong winds this evening,” says Storm Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brian Davis.
