DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Department of Justice said Tuesday a West Carrollton man was sentenced in federal court to prison for having a firearm after a previous conviction.
Gary Swisher, Jr., 44 was sentenced to 40 months in prison in U.S. District Court for possessing a firearm after having been convicted of a felony.
The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Timothy Black.
According to court documents, in May, June and October of 2015, Swisher illegally sold several firearms to someone in the Dayton area. When Swisher had the firearms he had been previously convicted of felony offenses of aggravated burglary and felonious assault. Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction records show Swisher was convicted and sent to prison in 2010 on those charges. He was released in 2011 by judicial order.
Swisher pleaded guilty on December 30, 2015 to possession of a firearm after having been previously convicted of a felony offense.
Swisher was also ordered to complete three years of supervised release and pay a $7,500 fine.
