WARREN COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) – Police say a fake cop in Warren County remains on the run.
But, authorities say he could be behind bars by Tuesday.
Investigators say an attorney who claims to represent the suspect, Cody Burton, called police on Monday and said his client planned to turn himself in on Tuesday.
According to police, Burton made a fake traffic stop recently, wearing tactical gear and a weapon.
Clearcreek Township’s chief of police says Burton was driving a pickup truck with firefighter markings and lights on top.
“All we know is that he wants to be a police officer,” Clearcreek Township Chief of Police John Terrill said. “That’s not the way you go about doing it.
“It’s dangerous,” Terrill added. “We want to make sure we catch ahold of him.”
Police think Burton also impersonated an officer at a restaurant in Montgomery County and asked people to help pay for his meal.
