DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A jury finds a man guilty in the death of a toddler in Huber Heights.

Deonte Evans was found guilty of murder, involuntary manslaughter and child endangering in the April 2015 death of 21-month-old Keyontae Ellis. A jury found him not guilty of felonious assault and defensive murder.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office said the toddler died of blunt force trauma to the torso. The toddler’s death was ruled a homicide. A pathologist who took the stand during the trial said Ellis’s injuries looked like he’d been in a bad car accident.

Evans is scheduled for sentencing June 27.
