SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — Another woman has contacted 8 On Your Side about a diamond wedding ring missing from Kay Jewelers, after it was shipped of for routine warranty maintenance work.
Theresa Austin, from Sarasota, joins dozens of other women who have contacted 8 On Your Side since early 2015.
“I can’t get an answer on my ring. it’s very upsetting,” Austin said. “It really is.”
Austin dropped off her ring at the Kay Jewelers at the Westfield Sarasota Square mall. That was in March. It was supposed to be shipped off for routine warranty maintenance and ready for pickup in seven days. Then she was told 30 more days, then 65 more days. Now she has no idea what happened to the ring. When she looks down at her ring finger, she cries.
“I’m a cashier and I use this hand every day and the ring is just not there,” she said.
She said store managers are not helpful or sympathetic, “I said, “To you it’s a product but to me it’s my wedding ring, I’m sorry.”

8 on Your Side has told story after story of women with rings missing from Kay or Zales jewelers, which are both owned by the same company.
Tampa police took notice and launched an investigation of more than 50 pieces of missing jewelry. Austin was watching and wanted to add her name to the list.
And this is also concerning. This receipt from last year’s maintenance visit states the value of Austin’s ring at $2,300. This year it’s listed at just $929, something Austin didn’t notice. That means if the ring never comes back, the company won’t give her enough money to replace it
“My husband picked out that ring especially for me and I love the ring, just want it back,” Austin said.
