CINCINNATI (WCMH)–A woman who shares her name with the mother of a boy who got into the gorilla exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo last week has been attacked on social media, WLWT reports.

Authorities killed the 17-year-old male gorilla named Harambe on Saturday at the Cincinnati Zoo.

We have not named the boy or his mother, who was with him when he got into the exhibit–the woman being wrongly attacked on Facebook is from the Cleveland area.

“I actually have a 5-year-old little boy and I think that’s why I was probably being targeted because my profile picture was of me and him, and I’m also from Ohio with the same name,” she said in an interview with WLWT.

It got so bad that the other mom added text to her Facebook profile photo that says “This (woman’s first name) has never even been to the Cincinnati Zoo! Neither has my 5 year old son!”

“I have received multiple messages that were meant for her and I can not believe how many people thought killing Harambe was wrong and it should have been her son who died instead,” the woman said.

“A lot of people have said I should have my children taken away, I should have my tubes tied…I’ve had a lot of people say I was pretty much the scum of the earth.”

The boy’s family released a statement saying he continues to do well and expressing gratitude to the Cincinnati Zoo for protecting his life Saturday.
