DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – If you drive on Interstate 75 for your commute you’ll likely notice some big changes that happened Thursday night.

Friday morning commuters began using the newly constructed northbound lanes through downtown.

Here’s what you need to know. All traffic has been shifted onto the newly renovated northbound lanes.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says there are still some workers in the area finishing up the traffic pattern shift Friday morning so drivers should be alert.

“Basically, just keep your eyes open when you’re in that area Stay alert, know that there’s going to be a bit of a traffic change that you’re used to,” said Mandi Dillon from ODOT.

The project was scheduled for completion in 2017 but work has progressed ahead of schedule. The work is now on track to be completed as early as this September. If that happens the contractor stands to earn a $3 million bonus.
