HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – One man is dead after a shooting at a hotel early Friday morning.

He has been identified as Lavonte D. Glasper, 23, of Dayton by the Montgomery County Coroner’s office.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 2300 block of Wagner Ford Road, the Hotel Dayton, at 4:15 Friday morning.

Crews found a male victim shot at least once in a hallway inside the hotel.

Deputies believe there was some type of physical altercation leading up to the gunfire.

2NEWS spoke with two hotel guests who say they were close enough to hear the gunshots.

“As it started winding down, as I was going to sleep, I heard a loud bang outside,” Cory Saenz said.

It was an unexpected wake-up call for guests like Hayden Corona.

“It’s pretty shocking. We didn’t expect to hear someone getting shot in the hotel we’re staying in,” Corona said.

Investigators say they are working with several witnesses who saw the shooting happen.
