Local candlelight vigil held for Orlando victims

Club Masque temporarily changed its marquee to honor those killed at Pulse, a popular gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida early Sunday morning.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The local community gathered Sunday night to mourn and remember the lives lost in the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

A candlelight vigil was held in the parking lot shared by Club Masque and MJ’s on Jefferson, two popular Dayton gay nightclubs downtown.

Dayton mayor Nan Whaley was present and helped to light and pass out candles.

The event was hosted by the Brady Campaign to Reduce Gun Violence to support the LGBT community.

Another vigil being organized by the Greater Dayton LGBT Center will be held Thursday night at 7:30 at Courthouse Square.
