MARION, OH (WCMH) — A woman in Marion has been charged with murder after deputies say she beat her 6-month-old child to death.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 1500 block of Southland Parkway in Marion, Friday at 2:34pm, on the report of a child not breathing.
When deputies arrived on scene they found Aaden Lee Mannering unresponsive.
The child was initially taken to Marion General Hospital and was later flown by helicopter to Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
After an investigation, deputies arrested the mother of the child, Tequila Rena Mannering, 26, on aggravated assault and endangering children charges.
According to deputies, Mannering had assaulted the infant causing critical injuries.
Marion County Children Service took Mannering’s other child, a 3-year-old, into custody. On Sunday, Marion County Deputies were informed Aaden had died.
Monday, Mannering was charged with first-degree felony murder, involuntary manslaughter and endangering children.
Deputies continue to investigate the incident.
