DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Shortly before 10:30 Saturday morning, Police discovered the body of 27-year-old William Jamar White of Dayton. White’s body was found lying in a alley near the 300 block of Kenwood Avenue in Dayton.
He was found with 3 to 4 gun shot wounds to his torso. Despite the shooting happening over night, Police didn’t get a single call into 911 until the next morning.
“It just so happen today that an alert neighbor looked down the alley and saw this person lying on the ground and checked on this person and determined this person was possibly deceased,” Dayton Police Sgt. Creigee S. Coleman said. “That’s when we received the 911 call.”
At the scene, investigators recovered 5 bullet casings that they determined came from an automatic weapon–however no gun was recovered. They also found cash along illegal narcotics in the victim’s pocket.
“At this point, we’re not sure if it was a possible drug deal gone bad,” Coleman said. “We do know possibly drugs played a part in this incident.”
Without any suspect or description, Police are pleading with the public for answers.
“We want to try and find this suspect at any cause,” Coleman said. “We’re going to try and compare ballistics with the crime lab to see if we can come up with some type of suspect information.”
Dayton Police are still searching for a suspect. If you have any information that could help, call Crime Stoppers at 937-222-7867/
