The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office said the toddler died of blunt force trauma to the torso. The toddler’s death was ruled a homicide. A pathologist who took the stand during the trial said Ellis’s injuries looked like he’d been in a bad car accident.

Investigators say Evans was watching the boy while the baby’s mother was at work at the time of her death.
