Girlfriend faces murder charges in connection with Dayton shooting

DAYTON (WDTN) – Police arrest the girlfriend of a man who died after being shot Wednesday on Patton Avenue in west Dayton. That man, 37-year0old Travis Smith died later Wednesday.

2 NEWS learned just before 5 p.m. Wednesday that Dayton Police arrested the Smith’s girlfriend, a 34-year-old woman, in connection with the shooting. Smith died later Wednesday at an area hospital. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office is not releasing the official cause of death at this time.

Earlier Wednesday, police said they received a call around 10:15 a.m. about a man who had been shot in the 80 block of Patton Avenue. The caller hung up on police without giving further details.

2 NEWS spoke with a neighbor who said he heard an argument at the house before police arrived. He said he didn’t hear any gunshots or anything to that effect.
