COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) – The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Fire & Explosion Investigative Bureau is asking for help solving a theft of fireworks worth $40,000.

The fire marshal says the theft happened around 1:30 the morning of June 24 from Phantom Fireworks in Bloomingsburg, which is in Fayette County.

Investigators say they believe the suspects arrived in several vehicles, cut through a fence and then into a semi-trailer that was being used to store the fireworks.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating along with the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

A reward is being offered of up to $5000 by Phantom Fireworks for information leading to identification of the people responsible.

“We need your help to solve this case.  Information from the public can help tremendously,” said State Fire Marshal Larry L. Flowers. “Even if you don’t think the information is relevant, it could bring the entire case together for our investigators.”

If you have any information you are asked to call the State Fire Marshal’s Fire & Explosion Investigation Bureau at 1-800-589-2728 or the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office at 740-335-6170. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
