Family Dollar robbery suspect

DAYTON (WDTN) – Dayton Police are looking for a man who robbed a Family Dollar store.

It happened in the 1000 block of Patterson Road just before 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Police say the man entered the store and acted like a customer.

Then, he pulled out a gun and threatened the cashier.

A 57-year-old customer tried to intervene, but the suspect hit the customer, causing a severe gash in the customer’s head and sending the person to Miami Valley Hospital.

“We generally recommend in a robbery situation when a suspect is armed or appears to be armed that the employees and customers in the store stand back, let him take the money, let him leave, it’s not worth anybody getting hurt over,” Dayton Police Lieutenant Wendy Stiver said.

Police say the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call crime stoppers at 222-7867.
