DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Dayton Contemporary Dance Company has won a Bessie Award. They are being recognized in the outstanding revival category for a performance called “Rainbow round my shoulder”.
The company gave the performance at the Lincoln Center in New York in March.
The Bessie Awards recognizes outstanding and creative work in choreography, performance, music composition, and visual design by independent artist.
This is not the first connection DCDC has had with the Bessie Award. In 2002, veteran dancer Sheri “Sparkle” Williams received a Bessie in the Dance and Performance category. “Once again, this award puts us in a category of prominence,” says DCDC artistic director, Debbie Blunden Diggs.
