Bond set in Springfield shooting case

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – Springfield Police made an arrest in a Thursday night shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

Police arrested Charles Brown, Sr., 44, in connection with the shooting.

According to Springfield Police — Brown shot a man in the face on Thursday night.

Brown was arraigned in Clark County court Friday. Bond was set at $75,000.

Authorities responded to a call of a man shot in the head near the intersection of Hillcrest Avenue and Beverly Road around 11 p.m. on Thursday.

When they arrived, police found a 43-year-old man shot in the face at a home in the 1300 block of Beverly.

The victim was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center and has since been moved to Miami Valley Hospital for medical care.

Springfield Police say the victim is reportedly stable, alert and talking. He aided in the investigation by providing information about a gold car the suspect, Brown, might have been driving.

Just after 2 a.m., police made a traffic stop after locating that vehicle.

Police took Brown, Sr. into custody as a person of interest at that time and questioned him about the shooting. He was booked into the Clark County Jail on felonious assault and attempted murder charges.
