Shooting on I-70 leaves one dead, another injured; freeway reopened

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — One person was killed and another injured after a shooting along Interstate 70 east of downtown.

The shooting was reported shortly after 2:30 Friday morning. According to police, there was a fight at a location on the east side that went mobile.

Police say two cars were involved. One car pulled up next to the other and started shooting, causing the second car to crash into the crossover wire in the median, according to police.

The fatal shots were fired along I-70 near the James Road exit. Police say a total of four people were in the car, two were shot.

One of the victims was pronounced dead, the other remains in unknown condition at Grant Medical Center.

According to Columbus police, this was not a random incident.

Police are still looking for the second car.
