MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – The Miami Township Walmart is back open after authorities say a woman called and said there was a bomb inside.
Late Sunday afternoon, authorities confirmed the threat was false.
According to dispatch, a woman called the Miami Township Walmart around 3 P.M. and told an employee that there was a bomb near the entrance and hung up.
We’re told an employee then went over the store’s loud speaker and asked everyone inside to evacuate.
Authorities blocked all entrances and exits and taped off both main doors to search for any signs of a possible bomb. K9’s were used to sniff out the area.
Everyone was allowed to go back inside a couple hours later.
This is the second bomb threat at a local Walmart in less than a week.
Last Monday, authorities detonated a suspicious device at a store in Franklin.
According to Miami Township police Sgt. Julie Fiebig, it’s possible the person who created the threat could face charges.
“It’s going to depend on what we reveal in the investigation at this point,” she said.
