Dayton native, NBA champ: “You can never do too much good”

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton’s very own NBA star Norris Cole is holding a special event for area kids this weekend. The Norris Cole Youth Basketball Camp in Kettering wrapped up Friday and another round starts next week in Dayton.

The two-time NBA champ is also holding a special event this weekend in addition to the camps. The Peace Wars event Saturday, August 30 at Welcome Stadium will be from 10 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.

“It’s promoting peace at a time of turmoil in the country, and it’s a competition,” said Cole. He said there will be fun games for adults and kids, free t-shirts and music, and law enforcement will show off their canine units. He said it’ll be uplifting for the community.

“You can never do too much good in your hometown,” he said. “This is home for me. I love my city and I just want us to be right.”

He encouraged kids to come out to his camp starting Monday, and talked to Mark about what’s next professionally for him.
