Gold: Brianna Rollins (United States)
Silver: Nia Ali (United States)
Bronze: Kristi Castlin (United States)

Americans Brianna Rollins, Nia Ali and Kristi Castlin swept the 100m hurdles in Rio on Wednesday.

Rollins finished first in 12.48 seconds, followed by Ali in 12.59 seconds and Castlin in 12.61 seconds. It was the first time a nation swept the podium in the event.

The 100m hurdles is one of the deepest events for the United States. 2008 Olympic champion Dawn Harper-Nelson and world record holder Keni Harrison both failed to make the 2016 Olympic team.

Great Britain’s Cindy Ofili was fourth, and her sister, Tiffany Porter, was seventh. Porter’s husband, Jeff, represented the United States in the 110m hurdles.

Omar McLeod won the men’s 110m hurdles title last night. He became the first Jamaican to win an Olympic gold medal in the event. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
