Driver shot while threatening to crash Jeep into a house

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The driver of a Jeep who was threatening to crash into a home with his vehicle was shot on Sunday afternoon, Fayetteville Police say.

Police responded around 4:26 p.m. to the 7000 block of Ryan Street after there was a report “of a male attempting to drive his car in to a home,” police said in an email.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that a male subject in a gray Jeep was threatening to drive his vehicle in to a home on Ryan Street, after being involved in a verbal altercation with the resident of that home,” police said.

“The male subject was then shot by another male subject on scene,” police added.

The man who was shot has been transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and is currently listed in critical condition.

The name of the victim is currently being withheld until detectives can contact his immediate family.

Detectives with the FPD’s Aggravated Assault Unit currently have a suspect in custody in connection with the shooting.
