Police released the 911 call of the victim's mother calling for help

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) –  Dayton Police tell 2 NEWS a man was shot in the leg on Dayton’s west side Monday morning.

A man was shot in the leg while in a black pickup truck Monday on West 3rd Street in Dayton. Police do not know the exact address where the shooting happened, but they tell 2 NEWS the 37-year-old male victim was driven to the Dayton VA by his mother, who was also in the pickup at the time of the shooting.

While police do not yet know what happened, they believe the shooting happened somewhere in the 3100 block of West 3rd Street.

The man was taken from the Dayton VA to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have released the 911 call. In that call, you can hear the distraught mother calling for help. This recording has been edited to remove identifying information about the caller and the victim.
