Nurses save child after vehicle flips into water at Goldsboro ATV park

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) —  Two nurses were on the scene and helped save a child after an ATV flipped into a pond at an ATV park in Goldsboro on Saturday morning, officials say.

The was reported around 11:15 a.m. at Buscoe Beach and ATV Park in Goldsboro when authorities were dispatched to a possible drowning, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said in an email.

The incident happened when a 50-year-old person with an 8-year-old passenger was driving a side-by-side ATV near the water, said Wayne County Lt. Tom Effler in an email.

The ATV flipped over and into the water.

Several people tried to pull the ATV out of the water, but were unable. Finally, other people showed up to help and pulled the ATV and victim out of the water.

Two nurses were at the beach and responded. They were able to revive the 8-year-old victim, Effler said.

The victim, whose name will not be released unless parents allow it, was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital, and “is responding well,” Effler said.
