Bus driver saves girl from being hit

TECUMSEH, Ohio (WDTN) – A bus driver is being hailed a hero after she saved a girl from being hit by a car.

It happened last Thursday when the bus stopped at the 12000 block of West National Road.

Surveillance video shows Tina Perkins quickly stopping the little girl from exiting the bus after she spots a speeding car in the rearview mirror.

Both the student and Perkins were stunned as the car swerved into the ditch, where the child would have been.

“We have to look out for these kids because mostly driver, they go right by. So it’s our job and our responsibility to make sure we watch out for the safety of the kids,” Perkins said.

Perkins was able to write down the license plate which helped Clark County Sheriff’s office stop the driver the next day.

The driver told deputies he wasn’t paying attention and was cited for failure to control.
