Dog dies after being tied to back of vehicle in Pickerington

PICKERINGTON, OH (WCMH) — A dog was killed and another injured after someone tied the animals to the back of a vehicle.

Pickerington police were called to a home on the 100 block of Bradley Court on Sunday.

According to police, someone tied two dogs to a bike rack on the back of a vehicle. Another person later got into the vehicle and drove off with the dogs still attached.

A police report states there was a trail of blood leading from a restaurant on Hill Road South all the way back to Bradley Court.

One of the dogs was killed and the suffered minor injuries.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

If charges are filed, Ohio law classifies cruelty to animals as a second-degree misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $750 and 90 days in jail.
