Good Samaritans pull California woman from crash

(KMIR) A Desert Hot Springs, California man is being called a hero after he helped rescue a woman whose car flipped over during a crash.

Ernesto Draayer was one of a few Good Samaritans who worked together to pull the woman from the wrecked car.

He and his wife were driving when they spotted the crash. He says the roof of the car was all he could see after hearing the woman scream for help and with first responders nowhere in sight, he jumped into action.

“There was actually someone crossing the street, and I had to slow down because I almost hit him because it was so dark, Draayer explained. “When I turned to see the guy I almost hit, there was a car flipped over,” he added.

With emergency crews still en-route, Draayer’s instinct and adrenaline immediately took over.

“I jumped around, climbed on top, and someone handed me a razor blade and tried cutting the seat belt because we couldn’t get it undone,” he said.
