KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A Knox County parent and school employee captured on camera a sweet moment between a Knox County Schools school resource officer and a student.

The photo shows Officer Derek Fregeolle helping a little girl with her homework. Quineka Moten, a community schools site resource coordinator at Green Magnet School, said she was picking up her son at South Knox Elementary School when she spotted the two together.

“He saw her sitting alone doing homework and asked if she needed help. He grabbed a dry erase board and worked with her,” she said.

South Knox Elementary Principal Dr. Tanna Nicely said Fregeolle had been named staff member of the month for September. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
