DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The long-anticipated roadwork completion on Interstate 75 throughout the Miami Valley is expected to wrap up in the coming days.

The ribbon cutting is expected to showcase the completion of the projects. Back in March, ODOT said construction on I-75 was a year ahead of schedule.

The I-75 modernization project was originally set to be completed in September 2017. But, that’s been moved up to next month. Until then, they’re putting the final touches on the third phase of the project near downtown. That’s where they’ve added 3 continuous lanes and centralized entrance and exit ramps to downtown.

The added lanes will make it safer and easier for drivers heading to and from downtown. ODOT spokesperson Mandi Dillon says overall traffic flow in that area will improve.

Because it’s finishing early, the contracting company will receive $3 million dollars in incentives.

We checked and in total, the entire project will have cost $306 million.
