HAMILTON, Ohio (WLWT) – A Butler County woman was the last of three to learn her fate for a boy’s slaying.
Our partners in Cincinnati, WLWT are reporting Theresa Hawkins-Stephens was sentenced Monday for the murder of her son.
In April, 5-year-old Alexander Stephens and his brother Damyan were tied up with blankets and beaten for more than 24 hours in a wooded area off North Verity Parkway.
Police said the boys were beaten after one took food.
The women responsible were staying in a motel room at the Parkway Inn.
Prosecutors said they called 911 and lied, saying they were camping and the boys were beaten up by some other kids when they ran away.
Rachel Bostian was previously sentenced to 18 years to life in prison. Bostian’s mother, Ramona Bostian, was previously sentenced to three years behind bars.
Calling her actions the “definition of deplorable,” Judge Greg Stephens sentenced Hawkins-Stephens to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 15 years.
The judge said the law would not allow him to give Hawkins-Stephens life without parole.
