SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – Two store openings at the Upper Valley Mall are breathing new life into that shopping center.
Many stores have closed up shop and moved out in recent years including two major department stores and a several national chains and small retailers.
Treasure Trove Collectibles store owner Lisa Webb said she’s hoping that her variety of unique collections will attract shoppers to the struggling mall.
Webb said with more and more consumers shopping online, store owners face the challenge of finding unique products and services to draw in more customers.
She said she’s not just selling collectibles, she’s providing shoppers with a memorable experience.
“Whenever you start up a business you never know for sure if it’s going to work, but I’m hopeful. I really am. I’m hoping to reinvent the mall in a way, you know, and just kind of do something a little different. There’s other people kind of doing different things in the mall too, so it’s becoming kind of a destination place for different things. People can still order their clothing or electronics or whatever online, but this still gives them a place to go,” Webb said.
The second store set to open by October is Pixel Playground. Attracting gamers of all ages to pay to play new and vintage video games with friends is the focus of the new store.
