SAN ANTONIO, TX (WCMH) — Students may be packing their lunch at a school in Texas, but a new sign warns that the teachers may be packing heat.
“Please be aware that the staff at Medina ISD may be armed and will use whatever force is necessary to protect our students,” the sign reads.
“You never know if there’s a transient or someone who has zeroed in on harming a child,” Medina ISD Superintendent Penny White told KSAT.
White said there wasn’t anything that triggered the placement of the sign, but she hopes it’ll deter any type of violence at the school. “I think that anybody who might have a thought about harming someone in mind would think twice about it.”
However, White wouldn’t say if any of the staff was actually armed. “We don’t divulge anything about our safety plan because it would compromise the plan,” she toldKSAT.
