DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The homicide trial of Harvey Lee Jones will continue on Thursday morning.
Jones is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and another man in a home in January 2013. If convicted, Jones could face the death penalty.
Day four of a double homicide trial began Wednesday morning with the removal of a member of the jury by the Judge.
Judge Dankof told jurors that one particular juror had been dismissed, but would not give an explanation why.
Judge Dankof then asked the jury if anyone had discussions with the woman who was dismissed about her knowing one of the witnesses. One juror raised their hand. Everyone was then removed from the courtroom while this issue was discussed and the session resumed shortly afterward.
Walt Steele, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Lead Detective in the case, was called to the witness stand and testified that Jones told him that he and his girlfriend (not the victim, Carly Hughley) had gone to a few bars, had tacos, and went to bed on the night of the murders.
