BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) — Beavercreek is continuing discussions about a proposed “super street” project.

The city held and open house on Wednesday to answer questions from residents about the project. City leaders hope the work will improve a busy stretch of road in the community.

The “super street” would be built on US-35 between Factory Road and Orchard.

The design concept restricts traffic on secondary roads from making left-hand turns to enter the main highway. Designers claim it allows drivers to get through intersections quicker, while improving traffic flow.

Wednesday’s meeting was a chance for the public to ask representatives from ODOT about the proposed project. One resident, who owns a soccer complex, is concerned how the project will impact his business.

“It’s common sense things, like when you have a lot of traffic on the side streets, like it appears now that traffic lights extend a little bit; will that be possible with the new design or not,” Larry Collins said.

The total cost of the “super street” project is $15.8 million. The State of Ohio already pledged $5 million to the project in July, with ODOT’s Transportation Review Advisory Council potentially kicking in $5 million more next year.

Beavercreek would have to fund the rest of the project. In August, council members said they hoped Greene County could help cover the remaining cost thanks to a budget surplus generated from shopping revenue at The Greene.
