DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Thousands of dollars are being raised to help families of sick kids today.
It’s what’s working in the Miami Valley.

Dayton’s Ronald McDonald House Charities is holding it’s 8th annual Mix 107.7 Radiothon.

They’ve been taking calls and pledges since early this morning with a goal of $75,000 this year.

Even some of our WDTN family helped out during the day.

All money raised stays local and helps families of hospitalized children by providing a home away from home.

“It stays here. It allows us to house our 14 families every day and we now serve over 35 families every day at Dayton Children’s in our Family Room so we are serving a lot of families every day. More this year than last year,” said CEO, Rita Cyr.

This year the house is hoping to use some of the funds raised to purchase new washers and dryers for the house since they go through a lot of laundry.

“At the house we provide housing for the families who have children in the hospital so they can stay with us, they live with us, we provide everything they need from the rooms to the laundry to the food..every amenity they need so they can be close to their child,” said Cyr.

The radiothon goes until 6pm Thursday night. You can make a donation by calling 937-535-CARE provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
